Art Therapy

Hey lovely readers, I'm done with my Art Therapy module! It's under Special Education studies, fyi. I'm pretty much satisfied with my final assignments and enjoyed the lessons and courses. So I'll be sharing a lil' bit about my Art Therapy that I've done with two of the children at the Home. Every drawing/art produced has stories behind it, but I shall keep it confidential. So, let's see all this their nice piece of artwork? :) Please take note these are my origial photos, not from the net, ok!

From this Art Therapy module, I've learnt that the greatest value of art therapy with children who have been abused or neglected is that it provides an opportunity to give voice to their pain. The images they create provides tangible proofs that has been made and this can be especially helpful on days when children feel discouraged about their progress. Visual arts seems to come readily to many children who have been abused or neglected.

Till then lovers, I'm off to a long getaway! Zooooooom Thailand. Pray for me. I'll be back, insyallah. Thank you and blog soon! :)

Mother's Day 2012

The last entry I blogged was last 2 weeks?! That shows how busy I was! Really, it's been hectic days at work! Not complaining, I'm trying to think positive! *breathe in, breathe out... time to blog!*

I celebrated Mother's Day this year with my beloved Mak by a simple and small affair. I really mean simple. Pretty short and sweet supper date with my parents because I didn't have plan to bring them out for exclusive dinner. (Sorry Mak and Bak, but I am really busy!) Mak didn't request for any extravagant gift this year (alhamdulilah!) but she's been wanting to get the best ice cream cake.

Well, yes. I searched and google about the best ice cream cake in Singapore. I doubt about it. I've tried Swensens countless time, but I thought I should give Haagen Dazs a try! As I googled, I saw a gorgeous ice cream cake, which would be nice to surprise Mak. Heh. Tadaaaaaa! "Perfect Gift" from Haagen Dazs with Chocolate Midnight Cookies flavour, is definitely a ditto! I love the packaging, it's black and gold, and it's super exclusive.. :)

This year, we didn't had mother's day dinner (compared to last year, I brought her to Carousel..) because I was too busy and perhaps I didn't put in effort to plan a proper dinner, my parents had to "book" me for supper date. How ridiculous can I be? Sigh. Haha. But anyway, it's a simple seafood supper, just for the 3 of us! My parents love seafood spread, and so do I! :p

Simple isn't it? Heh. I didn't get Mak a gift this year, cos I had no time (really!) so I thought the cash I gave her would be sufficient as extra expenses! I'm sure she's fine with it, cos she just smiled and smiled. Errrrk.  Anyhoos, to my one and only MAK......

"Mother" is such a simple word, but to me there’s meaning seldom heard. For everything I am today, my mother’s love showed me the way. Happy Mother's Day, Mak! ♥

Walau siapapun kita, walau sehebat manapun kita, walau berjaya setinggi langit pun tetapi tanpa doa dan restu si ibu yang melahirkan kita.. Maka tiadalah keberkatan hidup. Selamat Hari Ibu, Mak!

Volunteering Oppurtunities

Photobucket
Volunteering takes up our time, energy, and sometimes, money. It can be hard work. It can find us doing and seeing new things, which can be challenging and even a little scary. SOME people become volunteers because they can make a difference where someone or something needs help. If people never help each other and only care about themselves, the world becomes a crueler, sadder place. But when we volunteer our time, money, or talents, we help make our planet a better, happier home where people work together to make life easier for all!

Sunbeam Place (Singapore Children's Society) located at Choa Chu Kang is an approved home for abused and neglected children in need of safety and protection or whose parents are unable to provide proper care. Here, we provide a loving and caring home-like environment for children aged between two and eighteen years. We also counsel and help children cope with their emotions of fear, anxiety, worry or guilt. Programmes offered at Sunbeam Place cater to the children’s emotional and developmental needs.

Being in this line for the past 3 years, have taught me a lot. But I've been wandering all this while, why aren't our Malay community reach out to do volunteering work? Especially the young ones?! Are they aware of social services or are they just plain lazy to volunteer and help the ones in need? Here I am, looking up for YOU of all races and age 18 years and above, if you're interested to volunteer and share your skills, it can comes in terms of teach music instruments, singing, dancing, tuition, sports, conduct activities and etc, please do drop me a message at my social network sites! I'll be more than happy to meet you in person too! :p

"People who become volunteers usually lead richer, happier, and more satisfying lives than those who don't volunteer." :)

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Yes, that's my baby nephew, Danial Alfian! Such a grown up boy, isn't he? Been 4 months since I last saw him, due to some family issue.. The reason why I haven't been updating about him and upload his photos. But alhamdulilah, praise to Allah, I get to meet him again last week. HE answered by prayers. :')

Such a smart boy who would wave and acknowledge my neighbours when they passed by my unit, imitating the adults and his love for singing dancing and foods are still going on strong! May you grow up to be an intelligent and respectful boy. Auntie Ani will always pray the best for you, same goes to your Nenek and Atok! Ok, Mat Yoyo, please audition this little boy! :D
